Job description

Just an office job? Only if you ignore the impact.

Are you looking for a summer job that offers more than just a desk and a screen? At CSC, we have dozens of summer positions open for students from various fields who want their work to make a real difference. With us, you’ll get to build your career, work on meaningful projects that impact society, and gain valuable experience with cutting-edge technology and expert services. Our Summer Xperience program connects trainees through networking events and shared activities, helping you build contacts that last.

We are looking for Summer Trainees to the Quantum Technologies team in Espoo that explores and enables the uptake of quantum computing amongst our users. Join us and get hands-on experience with the future of computing!

Example tasks include studying and/or developing example quantum algorithms for show-case and training purposes, or more classical software stacks for connecting high-performance computing systems with quantum computers. You would work with state-of-the-art technology, including LUMI, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe and quantum computers connected to LUMI.

Key competencies we are looking for:

Several different types of opportunities related to quantum computing exist, so rather different skill sets are suitable. For example, programming experience in a Jupyter notebook environment or Qiskit is an asset, but not necessary. Alternatively, knowledge of REST APIs and secure communication protocols are important for setting up connections between classical and quantum computers. The crucial characteristic is that you have an interest in quantum computing and future technologies. If you are eager to learn, keen to share your enthusiasm and keep up with the latest in emerging computing technology, this job suits you!

The job description is finalised according to the skills, knowledge, and interests of the successful applicant. Working language is English.

What we offer?

At CSC, you’ll be part of something that matters. You’ll work on projects that support research, education, and the digital future of society – and you’ll learn a lot along the way.

Our Summer Xperience program brings trainees together for networking and fun activities, helping you build contacts that last beyond the summer. You’ll also enjoy flexible working hours, the option for remote work, and inspiring workspaces in Keilaniemi, Espoo, and Renforsin Ranta, Kajaani. Employees can also take advantage of a lunch benefit during the workday.

Our summer trainees usually work from May to August, but other dates are also possible. The duration is usually 3–4 months.

Traineeship is paid. The salary depends on the stage of studies but is at least 2100 €/month.

Please send your application by 15.2.2026. Apply as soon as possible – we start interviewing already during the application period and selections will be done right after we have found suitable persons. We aim to inform all applicants about the progress of the recruitment by the end of March 2026 at the latest. Reviewing applications takes time, so there is no need to worry if you do not hear from us immediately.

Who are we?

We work together for the future of research and learning through advanced technology. Our competence is the platform on which our society researches, learns and remembers. With us, you get to do meaningful work for the digitalisation of Finnish society, not forgetting significant international cooperation projects.
