Summer Trainee, HPC Computing Environment Development
The Computing Environment group is responsible for developing new capabilities, such as web interfaces and monitoring tools, for the computing environments in CSC managed supercomputers to support computational researchers in Finland and Europe.
The trainee will support the group in development and testing of new capabilities in preparation for Finland’s next generation HPC system, Roihu.
Depending on the applicant’s skills and interests, the trainee will be able to participate in developing a mini-project. Potential mini projects:
Developing new functionality in the Open OnDemand Web Interface for Roihu
Developing tools, test cases for using FireCrest API to access supercomputer resources
Developing and testing functionality of Performance Monitoring tools/applications on Roihu

Key competences we are looking for:
Programming skills. Preferred languages: Go or Python
Teamwork skills
Good oral & written English
Good Linux usage skills (familiarity with the command line/BASH)
Interest in HPC/AI systems

Summer Trainee, AI Inference Service Software Development
LUMI AI Factory AI Software and Data Engineering group focuses on building and maintaining the services, like MLOps, that supports AI-driven innovation in LUMI supercomputer.
We are looking for summer trainee to support our work. You'll be working in programming tasks as a part of an Agile Team that is focusing on development of Inference Service for R&D purposes.
Key competencies we are looking for:
Sufficient programming skills to participate in Python development, with experience in frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask or Django, and understanding of web fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
Experience with Git-based version control
Experience with container technologies, such as Docker or Podman, is a plus
Understanding of the software development process
Interest in AI
Ability to work in English
University or AMK studies in Computer Science or a similar field, with at least a couple of years completed
Location: Espoo or Kajaani

Our summer trainees usually work from May to August, but other dates are also possible. The duration is usually 3–4 months.
Traineeship is paid. The salary depends on the stage of studies but is at least 2100 €/month.
