We are looking for (Senior) System Specialists to the Computing Platforms group. The teams you will be working with are responsible for the system administration of the national Puhti and Mahti supercomputers, and their successor Roihu which is currently being installed in Kajaani, as well as LUMI, the EuroHPC pre-exascale system. In total the group manages 8000+ HPC servers and 100+ PB of usable storage.

The main responsibilities in this position are

• Daily administration and monitoring of supercomputing systems, maintaining high availability, confidentiality and integrity.
• Development of computing systems and services in collaboration with other CSC groups
• End-user support regarding reported problems and incidents
• Co-operation and communications with vendor operative teams
• Participating in the overall computing system life cycle management process, from planning to decommissioning

What we expect:

Prospective candidates should have experience in some of the following areas and strong motivation to learn and develop their skills.

• Advanced Unix/Linux systems administration skills
• Administration and monitoring large scalable systems
• Maintaining and developing a complex system software stack
• User support and documentation
• Information security and data integrity
• Teamwork and communications

Experience with the following tools and technologies is an advantage:

• HPC software stacks
• High-speed networking
• Parallel storage
• Kubernetes orchestration and running container workloads
• GPU-computing

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computing sciences is preferred.

The job description can be modified based on the competencies and experience of the selected person.
