Data Scientist

We are looking for an expert in artificial intelligence and data analytics. As a Data Scientist you will work closely with our customers nationally as well as participate internationally funded projects.

CSC is a non-profit limited liability company with a special mission, owned by the Finnish Government and higher education institutions. We offer and develop high-level ICT services for research, education, culture, public administration and companies so that they can succeed and benefit society as a whole. The position is located in the business area that provides solutions for education and research administration.

The Data Scientist's job description includes participating in the planning, conceptualisation and implementation of artificial intelligence and data analytics solutions that meet our customers' needs. Additionally, you get to apply your expertise with supporting our business operations and service development, and spar with CSC's experts in finding the best practices.

One example of an international project is the OpenWebSearch.eu project, which aims to develop a European open web index (OWI) with the cooperation of an international network of researchers and experts. The project lays the foundation for an open and extensible European Open Web Search and Analysis Infrastructure (OWSAI) based on European values, legislation and standards. The Data Scientist will be a part of CSC's expert team, but is responsible for conducting development work independently.

We are seeking for a Data Scientist who has competence and practical experience in versatile analytics and artificial intelligence methods, work methods and data processing.

In addition we hope that you have

• Verified knowledge of machine learning and data science, especially language models, NLP
• Work experience with artificial intelligence solutions and methods
• Pro-active and initiative mindset
• Ability to further refine customers' preliminary ideas and needs, and produce understandable proposals, concepts and solutions
• Ability to cooperate and good communication skills
• Experience in project work and working with customers
• Motivation and desire to share learnings, and to support colleagues in the implementation of artificial intelligence and analytics solutions
• Knowledge of English and Finnish (basic level) language skills

Previous experience in high-performance computing (HPC) is considered as strength.

As tools we use e.g. the following: Python, R and Java.
