Job description
CSC is looking for a specialist with knowledge of quantum computing to join our quantum technologies team. The QT team develops a modern high-performance computing environment with a quantum-accelerated future in mind. We are now setting up a world leading computational platform that combines high-performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence (AI), and quantum computing (QC), within the LUMI AI Factory effort.
If you have experience with quantum algorithms, and you are eager to learn, keen to share your knowledge, and keep up with the latest in emerging computing technology, this job suits you!
The main task is to develop our HPC+AI+QC service and to support our diverse user community in the uptake and use of quantum computing infrastructure. This includes, for example, the following tasks:
Help customers with support requests related to quantum computing and algorithms
Develop user documentation, customer and internal support, and training
Engage potential new users that could benefit from quantum computing
Develop our hybrid HPC+AI+QC software stack and service
Deploy the latest AI methods and software to support quantum computing
Support customers in finding optimal approaches for utilising hybrid HPC+quantum computing
Note that you do not need to tick all the boxes – the job description is finalised according to the skills, knowledge, and interests of the successful applicant.
Job requirements
Your background could, for example, be in computational or physical sciences. Good communication skills in English are needed (Finnish is not a requirement). A Master’s or PhD in a relevant field is seen as an asset. Knowledge of practical quantum computing, especially quantum algorithms is highly valued. Prior experience in high-performance computing for R&D applications, Linux, and Jupyter Notebooks will be useful. The position is expected to involve active learning on the job. As the field of quantum computing is still emerging, there will be a need for continuous competence updates.
If these topics sparked your interest and align with your career aspirations, you may be the person we are looking for!
What we offer:
At CSC you will get to perform meaningful work that has a direct impact on society. You will collaborate closely with national and international partners involved in emerging high-performance computing technologies, including quantum computing. This provides an excellent opportunity to become a top expert in the field and to work with world-leading HPC systems.
