Job description

Do you want to be part of a dynamic, international community working on groundbreaking projects like artificial intelligence and quantum computing?

At CSC, we offer unparalleled growth opportunities, a supportive and inclusive environment, and the chance to work on the future of research and learning. Join us today!

We are now looking for a Quantum Computing Specialist to join our Quantum Technologies (QT) team. The QT team develops a state-of-the-art high-performance computing environment with a quantum-accelerated future in mind. We are now setting up a world leading computational platform that combines high-performance computing (HPC), artificial intelligence (AI), and quantum computing (QC), within the LUMI AI Factory effort.

The main task is to develop our HPC+AI+QC service and to support our diverse user community in the uptake and use of quantum computing infrastructure. This includes, for example, the following tasks:

  • Develop our hybrid HPC+AI+QC software stack and service

  • Deploy the latest AI methods and software to support quantum computing

  • Support customers in finding optimal approaches for utilising hybrid HPC+quantum computing

  • Help customers with support requests related to quantum computing and algorithms

  • Develop user documentation, customer and internal support, and training

  • Engage potential new users that could benefit from quantum computing

If these topics sparked your interest and align with your career aspirations, you may be the person we are looking for! The job description is finalised according to the skills, knowledge, and interests of the successful applicant.

What we expect

If you have experience with quantum algorithms, and you are eager to learn, keen to share your knowledge, and keep up with the latest in emerging computing technology, this job suits you!

Your background could, for example, be in computational or physical sciences. Good communication skills in English are needed. Finnish is not a requirement. A Master’s or PhD in a relevant field is seen as an asset. Knowledge of practical quantum computing, such as quantum algorithms and/or quantum machine learning (QML) is highly valued. Experience with Qiskit or Pennylane would be great. Prior experience in high-performance computing for R&D applications, Linux, and Jupyter Notebooks will be useful. The position is expected to involve active learning on the job. As the field of quantum computing is still emerging, there will be a need for continuous competence updates.

What we offer

In this role you will get to perform meaningful work that has a direct impact on society. You will collaborate closely with national and international partners involved in emerging high-performance computing technologies, including quantum computing. This provides an excellent opportunity to become a top expert in the field and to work with world-leading HPC systems.

At CSC, our employees enjoy a wide range of benefits designed to support both their professional and personal lives. We offer flexible working hours and the option for remote work, making it easier to balance work and daily life. Our comfortable workspaces in Keilaniemi, Espoo, and Renforsin Ranta, Kajaani, are designed to facilitate both teamwork and tasks that require quiet concentration. We provide comprehensive occupational healthcare services, comprehensive health insurance, and remote work insurance. Employees can take advantage of a lunch benefit during the workday, and we support recreational activities with sports and cultural benefits.

Please send your application by February 1, 2026.

The recruitment process will include interviews and a work personality assessment. Interviews may begin already during the application period, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

Diversity is part of who we are, and we continuously work to ensure the diversity and equality of our workplace. We encourage all skilled applicants regardless of background to apply for the position.

We only process applications submitted through our official recruitment system. Applications sent by email will not be considered for data protection reasons.

If you have any questions regarding the position, please get in touch with Mikael Johansson, Manager for Quantum Technologies, mikael.johansson@csc.fi, or +358 40 7526 291 on Wednesday January 21st at 12-13 EET.
