We are looking for a Summer Trainee to join the Digital Twin Technologies (DTT) group in Espoo. One of these projects is TerraDT (https://terradt.eu), which develops new Digital Twin components to improve the description of land surface, cryosphere, and aerosol particles in the Destination Earth Digital Twins.
In this role you will:
Contribute to optimization and testing of different model and application codes as part of CSC's Digital Twin projects
Perform performance analysis and optimize numerical model components and supporting applications on the LUMI supercomputer
Set up and implement component-level tests for different models and applications
Document your work and contribute to project reports
What we expect:
Basic knowledge of Linux and programming experience (at minimum Python, other languages are an asset)
Fluency in English, both written and spoken
Experience in climate or other physical modeling is considered an asset
Most importantly, we value your curiosity and enthusiasm to learn!
A suitable candidate would be a student close to finishing their M.Sc. in natural sciences (e.g., computer science, physics, geosciences)
What we offer?
At CSC, you’ll be part of something that matters. You’ll work on projects that support research, education, and the digital future of society – and you’ll learn a lot along the way.
Our Summer Xperience program brings trainees together for networking and fun activities, helping you build contacts that last beyond the summer. You’ll also enjoy flexible working hours, the option for remote work, and inspiring workspaces in Keilaniemi, Espoo, and Renforsin Ranta, Kajaani. Employees can also take advantage of a lunch benefit during the workday.
Our summer trainees usually work from May to August, but other dates are also possible. The duration is usually 3–4 months.
