Työpaikan kuvaus

Do you want to be part of a dynamic, international community working on groundbreaking projects like artificial intelligence and quantum computing?

At CSC, we offer unparalleled growth opportunities, a supportive and inclusive environment, and the chance to work on the future of research and learning. Join us today!

We are now looking for a Computing Environment Specialist to join our Quantum Technologies (QT) team. The QT team develops a state-of-the-art high-performance computing environment with a quantum-accelerated future in mind.

The position is for an expert who can support and enable integration of quantum computing components with our supercomputing platforms. Note that previous experience with quantum computing is not required!

The main task is to add and develop quantum computing components to our existing (super)computing platforms within the CSC service environment. These include national and international collaboration projects on HPC+QC integration, and world-leading infrastructure, such as the LUMI AI Factory and its quantum computing platform LUMI-IQ.

The tasks in this role include e.g.:

  • Defining and implementing APIs for connecting classical and quantum computers

  • Resource scheduling/load balancing for workflows that incorporate heterogenous computing elements (CPU, GPU, QPU, etc.)

  • Participation in national and international collaboration on integration of quantum and classical computing

  • Software installations using modern tools

  • User documentation, customer/internal support and training

If these topics sparked your interest and align with your career aspirations, you may be the person we are looking for! The job description is finalized according to the skills, knowledge, and interests of the selected candidate.

What we expect

If you have experience working as a part of a team on computing systems infrastructure, and you are eager to learn, keen to share your knowledge, and keep up with the latest in emerging computing technology, this job suits you!

You have coding knowledge in at least one language. Experience in using and managing HPC systems or other production-level infrastructures is valuable. Your background could, for example, be in computer science, computational sciences, or system administration. Good communication skills in English are needed. Finnish is not a requirement. A Master’s or PhD in a relevant field is seen as an asset. We also value prior experience on, for example, debugging, REST APIs, DevOps or job scheduling/resource allocation. The position is expected to involve active learning on the job. As the field of quantum computing is still emerging, there will be a need for regular competence updates.

What we offer

In this role you will get to perform meaningful work that has a direct impact on society. You will collaborate closely with national and international partners involved in emerging high-performance computing technologies in general, and quantum computing in particular. This provides an excellent opportunity to become a top expert in the field and to work with world-leading quantum-accelerated supercomputing systems.
