AI Trainee

This Trainee position would be in a team working with customer projects, related to data analytics and artificial intelligence.

Your task will include:

  • Reviews of regulatory AI topics and user interviews (EUSAiR)

  • Review and development of documentation (AI Factory)

  • Implementing and running test ML pipelines using the computing environment (AI Factory)

A suitable candidate would have skills on machine learning methods and frameworks (PyTorch) and understanding of AI systems, their deployment and regulations related to AI. We are looking for a candidate with 2-4 years of relevant university studies.

Location: Espoo or Kajaani

HPC programming Trainee

The HPC programming group helps our customers in utilizing CSC's supercomputers as efficiently as possible. In practice this means porting and optimizing codes to/for LUMI, Mahti and Puhti and typically GPU enabling. Additionally, the group develops a Finite Element Method based multiphysics modeling software called Elmer. Additionally we provide the related training.

Your tasks will include e.g.:

  • Revising Elements of Supercomputing online course exercises

  • HPC programming project work

  • Elmer work

Key competencies we are looking for:

  • C/C++/Fortran

  • Parallel programming with MPI/OpenMP

  • GPU programming

  • Finite Element Method

Location: Espoo

LUMI user support Trainee

The CSC LUST team is a small and dedicated HPC support team working in 3 main projects:

  • LUMI users support: together with a distributed team located in the different consortium countries (ticketing system, software stack, training and hackathons...)

  • EPICURE: high level support for EuroHPC JU users

  • EuroCC2: national and international activities in training, interacting with industry, developing competence mapping and communication materials for HPC users.

Your tasks will include:

  • Supporting LUMI users with the help of the RT ticketing system

  • Assisting the LUMI User Support Team in installing scientific applications for the users

We are looking for a candidate who have basic knowledge of HPC and experience on linux, scripting and software installation. A suitable candidate will have 2-4 years of relevant university studies.

Quantum Computing Trainee

The Quantum Technologies team at CSC explores and enables the uptake of quantum computing amongst our users. Join us and get hands-on experience with the future of computing!

Example tasks include studying and/or developing example quantum algorithms for showcase and training purposes, or more classical software stacks for connecting high-performance computing systems with quantum computers. You would work with state-of-the-art technology, including LUMI, one of the most powerful supercomputer in the world, and quantum computers connected to LUMI.

Several different types of opportunities related to quantum computing exist, so rather different skill sets are suitable. For example, programming experience in a Jupyter notebook environment or Qiskit is an asset but not necessary. Alternatively, knowledge of REST APIs and secure communication protocols are important for setting up connections between classical and quantum computers. The crucial characteristic is that you have an interest in quantum computing and future technologies. If you are eager to learn, keen to share your enthusiasm and keep up with the latest in emerging computing technology, this job suits you!

Our summer trainees usually work from May to August, but other dates are also possible. The duration is usually 3–4 months.

Traineeship is paid. The salary depends on the stage of studies but is at least 2100 €/month.
