Are you interested in how geoinformatics and supercomputing can be leveraged for the benefit of society and the environment? CSC - IT Center for Science (Finland) is offering an exciting position where you will be part of our team developing research infrastructures.


The main goal is the development of services for science, mainly in the field of geoinformatics, ecology and forestry. Tasks for this position include developing data services and data processing services in cloud and high-performance computing environments, participating in system architecture design and systems integration.


In our group we develop different tools for data-intensive sciences, including Paituli (https://paituli.csc.fi), GeoPortti (https://www.geoportti.fi/), AquaInfra (https://aquainfra.eu/) and new project for Digital Twin of Earth system for Cryosphere, Land surface and related interactions (TerraDT).

Job requirements

We are looking for a software developer with understanding of spatial data to strengthen our team.


Key competences:

  • Linux server administration, Bash, Python
  • Back-end development
  • Front-end development
  • Experience with cloud environments, for example: virtual machines, object storage, Docker containers
  • Spatial data
  • Technical writing of documentation in English
  • Team working skills


Regarded as advantage:

  • Being aware of IT security in planning and implementation
  • Database administration: PostGIS
  • Installation automation, for example with Ansible
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Big data management


You can be a senior or a fresh graduate, as long as you have a few years of hands-on experience in software development, and at least a M.Sc. degree in a relevant discipline, for example computer science or geoinformatics. You are a proactive person and a good team worker. The exact tasks can be tailored based on the skills and experience of the candidates. 


The position is permanent and located in Keilaranta, Espoo. We are very flexible with remote work, but 100% remote work or working from abroad is not possible.
